Lunch & Lecture Featuring: Dr. Ruth Iyob
Author, Sudan: The Elusive Quest for Peace
Dr. Ruth Iyob, Associate Professor and Research Fellow in the Center for International Studies, University of Missouri at St. Louis will address the opportunities and limits of current conflict resolution efforts as they affect the development of sustainable peace efforts in southern Sudan and Darfur.
Dr. Iyob specializes in African politics with an emphasis on the Horn of Africa. She held a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Institute of African Studies and the Department of Political Science at Emory University and in 1993 was an observer of the United Nations’ sponsored referendum in Eritrea. Dr. Iyob is also the author of The Eritrean Struggle for Independence: Domination, Resistance & Nationalism, 1941-1993, published by Cambridge University Press.
